In the dark days leading up to Christmas, the Tractor Light Parade is held in the Waadhoeke municipality. This year, it was once again a spectacle. Last Saturday, December 14, 2024, a procession of beautifully decorated and illuminated tractors and trucks passed through the villages. From Menaam, I took several photos and videos that I would like to share with you here.

2024-12: Trekker Ljochtjestocht

The route, with a length of approximately 50 kilometers (about 31 miles), starts and ends in Menaam and winds through various locations in the municipality. It’s impressive to see a long string of lights moving through the dark landscape.

This year, over 175 decorated tractors participated! Each tractor is unique and transformed into a moving work of art with much love and creativity.

In addition to the tractors, this year there were also, among other things, decorated trucks and cars. This made the procession even more varied and spectacular.

If you want to know more, take a look at the organization’s Facebook page or follow local media such as Omroep Zilt and FranekerActueel. They often cover this event.
