My fascination with photography began at a young age. My father had purchased some analog Pentax equipment when he retired, but after a few trips, he lost interest, and from then on I started to delve into it. Unfortunately, the hobby was also too expensive for me to continue at that time.
In the digital age, I didn’t buy my first DSLR until 2009 at a flea market in Brighton. For a mere 50 pounds, I bought my Pentax K100D.
Within a year, I upgraded to a Pentax K5, and this is still the DSLR I use today.
For my work trip to the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, I then purchased a Canon R50 because in addition to photography, I also wanted to try out some video.

On December 26, I visited Klimcentrum Leeuwarden. You can practice indoor climbing there in various disciplines such as lead, speed, and bouldering. In the new year, I plan to take a trial lesson myself to see if this might be an enjoyable activity to take up in my free time.
From my home, it's just a short walk to Mak-Blokweer, a lovely nature park on the edge of Hoorn. On April 13th, 2021, I took my dog for a walk and spotted these swans nesting there.
In the middle of the corona time on Saturday, February 13, 2021, there was still plenty of skating on the Hoornse Hop. The ice was not very thick yet, and someone regularly got their feet wet. this is picture combined of 7 separate photographs.
On August 6th, 2020, my family and I went to Landgoed Hoenderdaell, and I brought my camera along. This eagle seems to be focused on its prey.
Of course, family members sometimes find themselves in front of the camera too. This photo of Alex was taken in the scenic fields of Mak-Blokweer on June 2, 2020.
Alex is cosplaying as Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia in this photo. It was taken on November 10, 2019, in the park De Hulk near Hoorn. The weather was actually too cold for a photo shoot that day. I used a 50mm f/1.4 lens, which is about 40 years old, together with my Pentax K5 camera.
Going to the zoo is always fun. On December 30th, 2018 we went to Artis Zoo in Amsterdam with the family. A picture of a lion(ess) should of course not be missing.
To a wedding you should go as decently dressed as you can. This picture of Selina was made at a family-wedding in 2017. Festivities were outdoor, and the weather was more then fine, so always a good possibility to take a couple of pictures.
